hello world
i am right now sitting at my computer in the zauberberg cottage that belongs to my godparents in knysna, south africa, where my dad, whom is a good friend of my godfather has already spent many hours at his computer. but he most certainly spent many more hours doing fun things.
steve and esthi, my godparents, have this beautiful cottage here and they and my folks usually spend a month or so here during the southern hemisphere summer every year. good life these old people have.
i haven't posted for a while... because... well.... just because. i guess i'm lazy (what a surprise). since so much time has past i will only finish our india part of our travels and save the africa part for the next post in a couple of weeks or days or months...
so we were in udaipur, this beautiful romantic little town on a lake surrounded by the brown mountains. as i said in my last post this place is magic and we really enjoyed it. we did a few cool things and visited interesting places.
in upaipur it's self we visited the city palace, the ghat, a vintage car museum, some parks, had walks along the lake... very beautiful.
one day we did a day trip and visited the kumalgar fort with it's 36 km long wall. kind of like the wall of china, just not as long. it was quite a nice fort and the view from the very top was spectacular. then we went on to the ranakpur jain temple. this temple is several hundred years old and the high priest whom takes care of the temple is from the same family. it is an awesome temple man, so well preserved and full of pillars and... oh man, was just stunning.
one other day we went horse riding... that was fun too.
after our stay in udaipur we had planned to go to ajanta, a place full of temple-caves, thousands of years old. it must be a stunning place. but the bloody indian railway was once again not on our side. we travelled to bombay and had to get a connection train to aurangabad from where we could get to some place close to this ajanta. we of course, learning from previous adventures did NOT get a connection ticket. so when we arrived in bombay we where in time (so we could of got one after all) and had to get a ticket and were told the train is now booked out.
we didn't know what to do, would of had to stay in bombay for days to get on a train and so on... so we said "fuck that, we're going to goa!" and so we did... we got tickets there and back and went and spent a bloody awesome week in goa!!! we met jan and lyndsey on the train, a couple from germany and ireland that just started their travels. we ended up at the same place, palolem beach in goa and had the most awesome time... kajaking, relaxing, swimming, eating, drinking, dancing... it was great... we even opened a unofficial bar one evening... haha.
we sure hope to see these two guys again some time... keep in touch lyndsey and jan!!!
so after that we went back to bombay for a couple of nights before our flight to the next continent. and i just don't feel like going on again... but bombay sucks to. to many bloody people....
so to finish the chapter of our journy i'll refer to the title of this post... love and hate for india, only love for goa. that's it put plain as possible.
india is a crazy country. and we did love many things, the colours, the beautiful culture and temples, the food, the special vibe and much more. but we also hates the hassle, the stress, the bullshitting and so on...
and goa is simply one of the coolest, relaxed places i've ever been...
so that's india, aftica next.... TO BE CONTINUED...
love,
bonda and dee
